Think you know Minecraft? The only way to be sure is to take a Minecraft quiz and get scored on it. This page explains how our quizzes work, gives you sample questions and answers to warm up on, and shares tips for scoring a low noob percentage.
What is the Minecraft Noob Test?
The Minecraft Noob Test is a Minecraft quiz that scores your knowledge as a "noob percentage." A lower percentage is better: 0% means you are a true expert, and 100% means you have some learning to do. Each quiz is 10 questions, and at the end you get a shareable score card to challenge your friends with.
Which Minecraft quiz should you take?
There is more than one quiz, so you can test exactly the knowledge you want:
- The classic Minecraft Noob Test covers general Minecraft trivia. Start here.
- The Redstone quiz tests pistons, comparators, and signal strength.
- The Mob quiz covers everything from taming wolves to surviving the warden.
- The Advanced quiz is built for veterans, with beacons, netherite, and the End.
- The Crafting quiz makes you build real recipes on a 3x3 grid from memory.
You can find all of them on the Minecraft Quiz hub.
Sample Minecraft quiz questions and answers
Warm up with a few real questions before you start:
1. How many iron ingots do you need to craft shears? Two. They go in a diagonal in the crafting grid. See our shears guide.
2. What do you feed a wolf to tame it? Bones, not meat. Meat only heals and breeds a wolf after it is already tamed.
3. Can an enderman pick up TNT? Yes. TNT is one of the blocks endermen can carry and relocate.
4. What is the only way to collect wool without harming a sheep? Shear it. Killing a sheep drops only one wool, while shearing drops up to three and the wool grows back.
5. Which mob takes damage from snowballs? The blaze. Snowballs deal 3 damage each to blazes but only knock back most other mobs.
Tips to score a low noob percentage
- Read every answer. Many questions include a tempting but wrong option that trips up noobs.
- Trust the recipe muscle memory. On the crafting quiz, placing items by feel is usually faster and more accurate than overthinking.
- Brush up on mobs. Mob behavior questions are some of the most missed, so our mob guides are worth a read first.
